Deep Space Networking – Your Wireless Technology (Well) Beyond Earth

Today, we all use wireless networks, and quite a few of us also work with how to make them work as well as possible. Some of us, however, work with how to make them work in ways that are out of this world. They bring us images not of cat memes but of scientific clues to the origin of mankind.

Arjan Kievits, Wireless Technical Consultant at Conscia is such a person. In a 1,5h evening lecture he will explain the basics of radio communication as well as going into the much more advanced space applications of it – how the NASA/JPL Deep Space Network can communicate over 18 billion km to the Voyager Space craft at the edge of the solar system, as well as showing some stunningly beautiful space images.

You will get to listen to Sputnik from 70 years back, as well as seeing what is actually transmitted live today from the Pluto neighborhood. Arjan will explain how the solar system could in principle be covered by three access points*, as well as discuss the importance of the discoveries.

Join us in boldly going where few network technicians have gone before!
