NIL Is the First in Slovenia to Achieve Cisco’s Environmental Sustainability Specialization

The Cisco Environmental Sustainability Specialization title confirms NIL’s commitment to sustainable business and social responsibility. NIL is the first Slovenian company with this title.

NIL (part of the Conscia Group) is proud to announce that it is the first Slovenian company to have achieved the Cisco Environmental Sustainability Specialization title for the area of Southeastern Europe. With this achievement, we demonstrate that as a company we are implementing concrete measures in the pursuit of our strategic goals in the field of sustainability and social responsibility. NIL’s activities are mainly focused on the areas of efficient energy use in the provision of IT services, supporting modern and more environmentally friendly ways of working (collaborative technologies), and the area of the life cycle of equipment – selection, maintenance, storage, and responsible handling of used equipment.

“Companies have a great responsibility towards the environment and society, which is why at NIL we have defined sustainable business as our strategic goal. We are very proud that we pursue this goal with concrete activities and that these are also recognized by our important technology partners such as Cisco. We are stronger together, and if we work together, we can achieve more faster in environmental protection and the establishment of sustainable business practices. The title Environmental Sustainability Specialization gives us additional confidence and confirms that we are a competent partner in matters of sustainability. I am convinced that with this achievement we will also encourage other companies, our customers, and partners to do even more together for a safe, healthy, and sustainable future and future generations,” said Uršula Grošelj, Head of Marketing and Environmental Projects Lead.

In pursuit of sustainability goals, Cisco focuses a lot on promoting the so-called circular economy and encourages partners and customers to include this operating principle in their business processes. Because of this, Cisco has three programs in place to help find environmentally friendly solutions for disposing of end-of-life products.

  1. Customer Recycling Solutions (CRS) – recycling solutions scheme is the environmentally friendly disposal of Cisco products that have reached the end of their useful life.
  2. Takeback and Reuse – allows Cisco equipment owners to return end-of-life hardware free of charge. Cisco reuses and recycles 99.9% of returned equipment.
  3. Refresh – the End-of-Life Software Refresh Program is Cisco’s commitment to minimizing environmental impact and helping customers do the same. Refurbished products offer the same quality as new equipment and are available at competitive prices.

As a leading domestic Cisco partner and a Cisco Environmental Sustainability Specialized partner, NIL also helps customers join and benefit from these initiatives.
