Lars Faeste, new CEO of Conscia Group

From Nordic solutions provider to pan-European leader in secure digital infrastructure

Under Erik Bertman’s leadership, Conscia has advanced from a solutions-led business into Europe’s leading partner for cybersecurity and managed services. It has expanded from a primarily Nordic player into 11 European countries through more than 10 acquisitions, growing from 800 to over 1,700 employees. Since 2021, Conscia has tripled in size and continues to have very high customer and employee satisfaction. The mix of organic growth and acquisition has put Conscia in a strong position going forward.

The change of leadership follows the landmark OneConscia platform, a group-wide programme bringing acquired companies together with one operating model, one brand and one service platform across markets. With the strategy implemented and strong results delivered, the Board of Directors and Erik Bertman have agreed that this is the right moment to hand over to a CEO who will take Conscia’s European growth to the next level.

Conscia is a different company from the one Erik took over in 2021. With a record year behind us and an integrated group to build on, Erik came to the Board with his decision to move on, and with the transformation of the business delivered, we understand and respect his decision. On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Erik for an outstanding contribution and for handing over a company in excellent shape,” says Morten Hübbe, Chair of the Board of Directors of Conscia Group. “In Lars Faeste, we have found a leader with a proven record of scaling international businesses across markets and turning strategy into measurable results. He is the right person to lead Conscia to the next phase.”

A leader with international scale-up and transformation experience

Lars Faeste joins Conscia from FTI Consulting, where he has served as Chairman of the EMEA region and as a member of the firm’s global executive committee. Before that, he spent 24 years with Boston Consulting Group, where he led the firm’s global Transformation practice and Client team (CCO) on the firms executive committee, and headed BCGs businesses in Greater China and earlier in the Nordics. He has lived, worked and scaled client service businesses successfully in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, the United States, China and the United Kingdom.

Conscia is a very exciting company with massive opportunity to expand and lead the secure infrastructure space in Europe. AI is driving exponential demand for compute and networking, and geopolitics is driving demand for security and sovereign solutions. Conscia sits squarely in the middle of those megatrends and is uniquely positioned to help customers across Europe meet those needs. It has deep technical expertise, strong local customer relationships and the scale that increasingly matters in cybersecurity and managed services,” says Lars Faeste. “My focus will be on executing and accelerating the current strategy as we continue to build Conscia’s position as the leading European provider of cybersecurity and managed services for mission-critical digital infrastructure. Growing the managed service and cybersecurity business, deepening our position in the markets we operate in, and delivering to customers whose operations depend on us every day continue to be core priorities.”

When I joined, Conscia was a strong Nordic business built on solutions and hardware. Today it is a leading pan-European cyber security and managed services company with over 1,700 people. Having led that journey under the ownership of Nordic Capital has been a true privilege,” says Erik Bertman. “After five years, I have decided that this is the right time to hand over to someone who can take Conscia further. I look forward to following the company closely and to supporting Lars and the team as an advisor.”
